The initial check-in to this folder contains the Tunnel project files from Footleg's drawing up of the 4 Valleys System from 2006 to 2012. There are separate sketch files for each of the minor caves drawn up in Tunnel in that time, and files for each of the main 4 Valleys System caves as follows: 0081 Carcavueso The sketch is just the centre-line from Survex. Nothing was drawn up in Tunnel. 0105 Riano There is one title panel sketch, and one survey sketch covering the entire cave. 0107 Uzueka This part of the system got very large and started to cause memory problems for generating output from Tunnel. At the time this Tunnel project was last worked on, Footleg was in the process of splitting the Uzueka drawing into two parts. Part 1 covers everything from the Entrance Series up the Gorilla Walk into the Near Stomps just beyond the 2nd River Inlet (connection to Riano). The entrance area resurvey had uncovered the Sima Baz streamway via the God Knows Series and this was not yet fully drawn up at the time work stopped on the Tunnel sketches. The last completed drawing of this area is provided as the 0107_uzueka-Easter2011_AllFixedUp.xml sketch file. This shows the old Sima Baz streamway offset from the actual position it had on the old surveys to avoid it overlapping the new resurvey of the same passage. The old streamway was determined to have been drawn 180 degrees rotated from the correct direction it actually flows. The newer Part 1 sketch has the old streamway deleted and the approach passage connected in to the new Sima Baz streamway resurvey in preparation for redrawing it all. The final survey trips in this area have not been drawn up in Tunnel. The Pullup Passage Maze area is obscured under higher level passages, so a separate copy of the sketch for this area was made and annotated with more labels (with some labels from the upper level series above it removed to produce a clearer offset sketch of this maze. This is the file 0107_uzueka-pullup_maze_detail.xml Part 2 covers everything from the Near Stomps to the Astrodome. Some areas were redrawn from the resurvey work done after the version found in the Easter2011 sketch. This includes the aven at the end of the Gour Inlet extensions, the resurvey from the Hidden Aven off the Near Stomps to the end of the Far Stomps. 0114 Llueva There is one title panel sketch, and one plan survey sketch covering Part 1 of Llueva (up to the upstream sump). Plus the start of a project elevation sketch (using a centreline rotated to the required projection and imported into Tunnel (which only allowed plan projections at the time). A separate A1 sheet sketch is also included which was used to present Llueva Part 1 on a single A1 sheet. 4Valleys_A1sheets-sketch.xml is the compilation of the entire system split into A1 sheets. It uses all the other sketch files to create this composite survey, and is the file used to generate the PNG bitmap files for each A1 sheets making up the survey. (4Valleys_A1sheets-2011.xml is the older version of this compilation sketch using the single Uzueka sketch Easter2011_AllFixedUp). The newer compilation sketch uses the separate part 1 and part 2 sketches for Uzueka. But this introduced duplicated survey centrelines in slightly offset positions (one of the problems that was never sorted out). The rendered A1 sheet bitmaps from these compilation sketches have been generated (at 400dpi resolution) and added to the data archive in the 5Valleys/Drawn Up Surveys/4 Valleys Tunnel Output folder to show the state of the sketches when initially added to the archive. This includes both 2011 and 'latest' versions of sheets 1 and 2 which cover the areas where changes exist between the sketches. The sketches were processed with a build of Tunnel from Jan. 2012 using a custom style-sheet created by Footleg. This style-sheet (file: fontcolours_footleg.xml) needs to be placed in the Tunnel/symbols folder of your Tunnel application in order for the sketches to be rendered as intended. A complete Tunnel installation with this style-sheet included is checked into the data archive. This Tunnel project had reached a size where just making minor updates after each expedition was becoming problematic. Migrating the sketches on updated centrelines was taking a lot of work and causing distortions which took more work to fix up, which was why the Uzueka sketch was split into two parts. After 2012 Footleg started to redraw the project using Therion, so the latest survey updates will be found in the Therion project from 2012 onwards. However at the time of writing this has not caught up with much of the areas drawn up in Tunnel. So these Tunnel sketches provide the most complete drawing up of the system to date. December, 2013
