Ben,

The bitmap is of a slightly clearer quality if that helps. Peat, with hindsight I’m a bit more upbeat about the place. We’ll be less cold and knackered next time so we should make light work of the mud bank. It’s certainly worth a trip just in case. The mud could be stacked on the left and we could dig a trench to the end. It may just be a localised blockage.

Cheers,

Tim

Dear all, a quick note as promised on the small extension to Wall Street that Peat and I opened up on Saturday, circa 25ft or so. Attached is a small sketch. We managed to open the small hole in the flowstone bank that Bill and I excavated last month. Once we’d got into the mud underneath we were able to put Bill’s small jack underneath the flowstone. It popped up nicely. Thanks Bill. Another hour of digging and we were through. There is a squeeze here but it’ll be enlarged for others. First you get a large dry gour pool which is quite pretty. There are a couple of other honey dippers here and we’ve managed to save some of the pretty stuff that its tucked out of the way. Straight after the roof and flowstone bank almost join. With a bit of scraping we managed to squeeze through into a second chamber. The roof will need some work to let larger mortals past. There are a few drips on the right but straight ahead is a large mud bank. We were a bit disappointed as the way on isn’t obvious. The air is still fresh so with a bit of hindsight I think we’ll do a digging session or two before thestacking space disappears.

What’s intriguing is whether we will hit larger passage running between Trench Passage and the Pork Pies or whether Wall Street will run parallel to West Passage and off into the unknown…

Tim
